A student from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology was on Thursday charged before a Milimani court with two counts of obtaining money by false pretence.
John Ndavi Shikuku appeared before the Milimani Law Courts where he denied the charges of defrauding two individuals a total of Ksh 25,400 on separate occasions.
According to the prosecution, Shikuku is accused of jointly defrauding Regina Nyambura Gachora Ksh 7,800 by pretending that he was in a position to fast-track her Tunisia visa processing, a fact he knew to be false.
In the second count, he allegedly obtained Ksh 17,600 from Tasnim Shamsydim Kamali Mohamed under similar pretences.
The court heard that the alleged offences were committed on diverse dates in May 2025 at an unknown location within the Republic of Kenya.
The case was investigated by officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Serious Crime Unit.
Shikuku, who was represented by his lawyer, pleaded not guilty to both counts. His lawyer told the court that the accused is a student at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University and requested for lenient bail terms.
The magistrate granted him a cash bail of Ksh 15,000 pending trial.
The matter will be mentioned for pre-trial on 26th November 2025 at magistrate court
