UoN Student President Madzao Surfaces After Alleged Abduction

Missing University of Nairobi (UoN) student president Madzao Rocha has surfaced after days of being reported missing.

Madzao in a video recording seen by Uzalendo News, sent a message to his friends and other concerned citizens saying that he is safe and sound.

He is reported to have been abducted by unknown individuals who later dumped him in Mombasa. Madzao managed to make his way to a bus station and took a matatu to Kwale where he is with family.

Moreover, the student leader has also appreciated the individuals who took time and put in effort to know his whereabouts.

“Hello and how are you. Madzao Rocha here. I am safe and thank you to everyone who made an effort to know my whereabouts. I am safe and God bless you. Thank you,” he said in the video.

The University of Nairobi students on Saturday, August 24, held demonstrations in protest over the alleged abduction of their student leader.

Consequently, they blocked Uhuru Highway, leading to the deployment of anti-riot police. Clashes ensued as the police attempted to clear the road, causing significant traffic disruptions.

Reports indicated that unidentified men attempted to abduct the president earlier on Friday near Hall 9 of the university, but students intervened. Madzao later left for home at around 8:00 PM.

News of Madzao missing were first shared by one of his friends identified as Mbaga who stated that Madzao was last seen near Imenti House while in a matatu on his way home at 9:00 PM on Friday, August 23, 2024.
