Uphold Righteousness Amid Election Jitters — Kenyans Told

Fr. Ogutu also pleaded with candidates who were dissatisfied with the election results to proceed via the proper channels

Catholic clergy has called on Christians countrywide to apply teachings on righteousness amid troubling election times. 

Speaking at the Mary Help of Christians, Don Bosco Shrine, Father Thomas Ogutu challenged those traveling with Jesus to strive to enter by the narrow door.

” You need a clear vision of where you are going and a certain commitment to get there. Jesus declares that those who wish to be his followers need all these qualities of commitment, clarity of vision, focus, and determination. It doesn’t matter how your body size is,” said Fr. Ogutu.

He also urged Christians to remain calm as the election campaign comes to a close.

Fr. Ogutu also pleaded with candidates who were dissatisfied with the election results to proceed via the proper channels in accordance with the constitution rather than inciting violence among Kenyans.

“We have systems where those who have felt a grieved can utilize. Let us then not erode the love we have for one another.”  

Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga is set to file a petition, after publicly denying the poll results. 

IEBC announced President-elect William Ruto as the winner of the August Elections, despite the debate over legitimacy.
