The directive aims at clamping down on illegal and terrorist activity associated with immigrants from neighbouring countries.
There has however been mixed reactions as some invoked abuse of international regulations on refugees as well as human rights.

Closure of Daadab and Kakuma is sad and inhumane. However, Somali government has continuously undermined kenyan government efforts to bring sanity in this region. Next move will be the setting up of KDF at the same areas in readiness for the days ahead. — Jeffery.
Daadab’s closure is very long overdue. Let it be relocated INSIDE Somalia, after all, Somalis never fail to remind us of the huge strides they have made in rebuilding their nation. It’s time they took back their own. – – Dembe
The EAC and UNHCR should find better ways of settling refugees instead of letting them rot in the so-called refugee camps. Daadab ought to have been disbanded long ago, those people deserve better — Reuben
