The Us Embassy in Nairobi has raised a security warning, cautioning its citizens about potential terror threats in Kenya.
The embassy noted that terrorists might focus on areas commonly visited by foreigners, including American citizens and tourists, in Nairobi and other regions across the country.
“The US Embassy in Nairobi reminds US citizens in Kenya that they should exercise increased caution due to the risks of terrorism and kidnapping.
“Locations frequented by US citizens and other foreigners and tourists in Nairobi and elsewhere in Kenya continue to be targets to terrorists,” the alert reads.
The embassy noted that concerns tend to rise around key dates associated with past terror attacks, such as the September 11th attacks in the US, the Westgate mall attack on September 21st and the October 7th Hamas assault on Israel.
These anniversaries may see an increase in terrorist activity or threats.
The embassy also urged US citizens to stay informed by following local media updates, avoid areas where demonstrations are taking place and steer clear of crowded locations.
