Vanced Goes Offline After Google Threat

Following a legal threat from Google, the popular Vanced YouTube software is being withdrawn.

Vanced’s authors have announced that the project would be shut down in the next days, with download links being withdrawn.

While the app will continue to function for anybody who presently has it loaded on Android, without any further updates, it will most certainly cease to function at some time in the near future.

Google recently gave the Vanced owners a cease and desist notice, forcing the developers to stop distributing and developing the software.

“We were instructed to erase all references to ‘YouTube,’ modify the logo, and remove any links to YouTube goods,” the company said.

Vanced is a popular third-party YouTube software for Android, notably since it allows users to eliminate all video advertising on YouTube without purchasing a Premium membership.

Vanced also features a genuine black theme as well as tweaks not available in the original YouTube for Android app.

Vanced is the latest victim of Google’s crackdown on third-party programs that access YouTube.

Last year, Google-owned YouTube took down two popular Discord music bots before testing ad-supported YouTube integration into Discord just weeks later.

The famous Discord music bots Rythm and Groovy also evaded advertisements on the site, allowing Discord members to listen to music together.
