The Deputy Governor of Machakos County Francis Mwangangi on Sunday emphasized the critical need for the committee of legislators responsible for vetting new cabinet ministers to conduct thorough examinations of the nominees.
Speaking after attending a church service in King’oti, Matungulu Sub- County, Mwangangi’s remarks came at a time when concerns about corruption within government ranks are at an all-time high.
“There is an urgent need for the committee to vet the nominees meticulously. We cannot allow individuals with any history of corruption to hold public office. It is vital that only those fully cleared by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) be considered for these crucial roles.”
Mwangangi’s comments resonate with many Kenyans who are increasingly disillusioned with corruption in government.
He specifically urged the vetting committee members to ensure they themselves are free from any corruption allegations and fully cleared by the EACC. His call to action highlights the importance of integrity in leadership roles.
The vocal Deputy Governor also addressed the younger generation, encouraging them to engage actively in the political process and make informed choices in the upcoming elections.
He stressed the importance of electing leaders who are committed to upholding the law and serving the public interest.
“We need leaders who prioritize the welfare of our citizens over personal gain. It’s time for the youth to step up and demand accountability from their leaders.”
Mwangangi’s passionate appeal shows the urgent need for transparency and accountability within Kenya’s political landscape.
