Today’s Napoli training session brought disappointing news, as Victor Osimhen skipped training to recuperate from a muscle ailment.
The 24-year-old Nigerian attacker tore his adductor muscle on international duty at the end of last month, forcing him to miss the Partenopei’s last two games against Milan and Lecce.
Napoli had hoped to have him back for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final match against Milan, but he did not perform well in training today.
Gianluca Di Marzio stated today that Osimhen did not participate in squad training with his Napoli teammates, instead practising on the pitch independently before heading to the gym.
Napoli do not want to risk endangering Osimhen in the latter parts of the season, so he will not be rushed back to face Milan, though the hope is that he will be healthy for the second leg later this month.
The Nigerian star, for his part, would prefer to play in the encounter and will undergo a battery of medical tests tomorrow to establish his availability.
