The Ministry of Health has stepped up efforts to fast-track the government’s transformative health agenda under the Taifa Care Model through county assessment tours designed to strengthen health systems and rebuild public confidence.
Today, Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale led the ministry’s senior leadership to Vihiga County in a milestone visit focused on advancing the implementation of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The programme featured a health caucus sensitization forum, an inspection tour of the Vihiga County Teaching and Referral Hospital, and a public engagement session aimed at enlightening residents on the benefits of the Social Health Authority (SHA).

As part of the visit, the ministry delegation also handed over end-user digital devices to county officials to support healthcare digital transformation and improve service delivery across facilities.
CS Duale was accompanied by Medical Services Principal Secretary Dr. Ouma Oluga, SHA CEO Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, and DHA CEO Eng. Anthony Lenayara.
The leaders were hosted by Vihiga Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo, alongside other county and national officials.
The Vihiga tour is part of a nationwide campaign to strengthen healthcare delivery under UHC, a cornerstone of the Kenya Kwanza administration’s social agenda.
