Following a disappointing season in the FKF Second League, Vihiga United head coach Mike Mururi is already planning for next season’s attempt at promotion to the FKF Premier League.
With one round remaining in the season, Vihiga are eleventh in the National Super League (NSL) standings with 44 points, one point behind SS Assad.
Due to a lack of financial resources, forward Luke Namanda and Lawrence Luvanda moved on to FKF-PL champions Tusker FC, while midfielder Stewart Omondi joined KCB.
Mururi also stated that the club is unable to sign new players due to similar financial constraints.
“Currently we aren’t signing any new players because we simply don’t have the money to do so. Talent is expensive to acquire and even more so to keep and that’s why some of our best players have had to leave for greener pastures,” Mururi said.
Vihiga were relegated to the NSL during the 2018/19 season and will play their final game of the season in Kakamega against SS Assad.
