After visiting the site of the Grogan fire to emphasize with the victims yesterday and helping in efforts to quench the fire, the incoming governorship duo of Waita and Suluhu have today offered more support to enable recovery.
Machakos County Speaker Madam Florence Mwangangi ‘Suluhu’ visited the traders and gave corrugated iron sheets worth over one million shillings. This was enabled by 700, 000 shillings from Waita and Suluhu, and 500, 000 from Azimio kingpin Hon. Raila Odinga. Businessman Theuri of Pasha enterprises and former Women Representative of Machakos Dr. Susan Musyoka donated 50,000 and 20,000 shillings respectfully.
Speaking at the event attended by hundreds of traders Madam Suluhu decried the lack of preparedness for such occurrences by the county government and asked the people to take tabs and consider these failures when voting for the next government of Machakos.
“Be careful to not elect politicians who have no clue and mercy for you. Machakos needs managers who will plan accordingly and ensure we take it to the metropolis level considering our proximity to Nairobi,”
“You must hold the current county government to account for their failures. Mutua and Maliti have miserably failed”. She said as she promised more help which Waita and herself are still mobilizing for.
She added that Waita is a visionary and committed leader as demonstrated in their intervention as she regretted that Mutua and his deputy Maliti are yet to get to the scene of fire almost 24 hours later.
Florence promised tangible change in 100 days of a Waita and Suluhu government as the right laws had been passed in the assembly during her tenure which will be brought to life in their dispensation.
“What happened to the emergency fund?” she posed.
