The race for Homa Bay governor is a toss-up between ODM Woman Rep Gladys Wanga and former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero, who is running as an independent.
According to preliminary results, both candidates have equal chances of winning.
Dr Kidero leads in one constituency, and Ms Wanga leads in another.
The former governor, for example, floored the Woman Rep in many polling stations in Homa Bay Town.
The situation is completely different in Karachuonyo, Kasipul, and Kando Kasipul, where Ms Wanga is in charge.
The county center had not begun tallying votes by 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
In the presidential race, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Presidential candidate Raila Odinga is leading in all polling stations in his Nyanza backyard, according to preliminary results, despite a lower-than-expected turnout.
In Kisumu, the electorate and ODM supporters were overjoyed that many of them heeded Mr Odinga’s six-piece chorus of rejecting independent candidates and those from fringe parties.
Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o is expected to win, as are Senate candidate Tom Ojienda and Woman Representative hopeful Ruth Odinga.
Senator James Orengo of Siaya has taken the lead over his closest challenger, former Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo.
Mr. Odinga’s brother, Oburu Oginga, is predicted to win the Senate seat.
