Wanjigi breathes sigh of relief as court stops his prosecution in firearms case

A Milimani chief magistrate has deferred a ruling on whether Safina Party leader Jimmy Wanjigi should take a plea to the charges levelled against him by the prosecution.

This comes after Wanjigi obtained a high court order against the DCI and prosecution blocking his prosecution on charges he termed malicious.

He was facing a charge of being in possession of firearms without a licence.

The lawyers representing Wanjigi led by Willis Otieno said that the court will not suffer a prejudice if the ruling is stayed to allow the high court rule on the petition filed by Wanjigi.

The deferment is to allow the prosecution to peruse the high court order proceedings of Wanjigi’s cases.

The matter will be mentioned on 19th September.
