Transport Cabinet Administrative Secretary Wavinya Ndeti has resigned to contest the Machakos Gubernatorial seat.
Wavinya struggled through her statement as it emerged that the looming shadow of Nzioka Waita, the State House Chief of Staff had hit her hard.
The former Kathiani MP is no longer the Wiper Party favourite for the ticket. Waita is seeking the ticket to succeed Governor Alfred Mutua.
Wavinya comes from Kathiani Constituency, while Nzioka Waita comes from Machakos Town.
The two candidates are both close to Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and are set to square it out for the ticket.
Waita will resign from his position on Tuesday to set the stage for an epic duel between the two.
