Wazito FC changes plans on New stadium

25 % of stadia of the initially proposed stadium budget to be diverted to formation of East Africa league – By Enock Mukoma.

The long awaited ground breaking of Wazito FC stadium has taken a new twist.

Club boss and owner ,businessman Ricardo Badoer now stashed 25% of the initial budget reallocating it towards formation of a parallel East African League.

The KPl outfit had an initial plan of a 45000 seater stadium which would have been the second largest in the country and first club in Kenyan sports history to own a stadium.

“Last year’s design was 45,000 capacity stadium. But since then, we decided to spend that money on creating our own league and to build several smaller modern stadiums,” Badoer said after the Kenyan club released the latest design.

The stadium will come with a 1,300 VIP section with the other side having 3700 seats.
Badoer is in the process of establishing his own East African league, similar to America’s Major League Soccer.

The league will consist of 10 football teams for both male and female as well as basketball that will also have a 10 teams for men, drawn from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

“People that know me understand that I never sleep,” said Badoer.
“We have now put the first step towards East African league by registering the company. League logo is being registered and will share ASAP. Will reveal more info in coming weeks,” the Swedish businessman revealed last week.

The latest design is among the four stadia that the businessman plans to build in his bid to make a sports business empire in Kenya and across east Africa.
However its not clear whether wazito fc will be withdrawn from Kenya premier league or another outfit will be formed for the EA league.
