The Kenya Meteorological Department has predicted sunny and dry weather in most parts of the country this week.
In its forecast on Monday, September 22, the Met Department said the dry weather is expected to prevail from Tuesday, September 23, to Monday, September 29, 2025.
However, the weatherman said rainfall is expected in the Highlands East and West of Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, and North-western Kenya.
“Most parts of Kenya will be sunny & dry, but rainfall is expected in the Highlands East and West of Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin and North-western Kenya,” read the forecast in part.
The weatherman noted that in the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, sunny intervals are expected in the mornings, though occasional showers may occur in some areas.
In the afternoons, showers and thunderstorms are likely in a few places during the first half of the forecast period, spreading to several areas thereafter. Night showers are also expected in some places.
In North-western Kenya, which includes Turkana and Samburu Counties, sunny intervals are expected during the day, while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
However, morning rains, afternoon and night showers, and thunderstorms may occur over a few places.
At the same time, the weatherman predicted high temperatures exceeding 30°C in the Coast and North-western Kenya.
Meanwhile, parts of the Central Highlands, Central Rift, and Mt. Kilimanjaro region will experience low temperatures of below 10°C.
Further, the Met Department predicted that strong winds exceeding 25 knots are expected over the coastal region this week.
The winds will also be experienced in the South-eastern Lowlands, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya regions.
At the same time, the Met Department reported that in the previous week, Kitale recorded the highest rainfall, with 76.4mm in seven days and 59.0mm within 24 hours on September 20.
Mandera experienced the highest temperature at 38.6°C on September 16, while Nyahururu recorded the lowest temperature at 5.0°C on September 21.
