Wetangula moves to court to be removed from Ksh.1.6B camera procurement case

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has filed a motion with the court demanding that his name be removed from a case challenging the procurement of 25 cameras at an alleged cost of Ksh 1.6 billion.

The filed by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) is seeking accountability for the procurement process, claiming that it was performed without transparency and in breach of public finance regulations.

In his application, the Speaker argues that his inclusion in the proceedings is a misjoinder and unnecessary, asserting that LSK has not demonstrated any identifiable stake or interest he holds in the matter.

Wetangula also argues that his inclusion in the case is “contrary to the principles of fair and expeditious determination” since he is not involved in the procurement process.
