What next for the Trump’s political ambitions after January?

Donald Trump
President Donald Trump

Donald J. Trump will still remain to be the United States of America’s president until 20 January, when he will officially hand over the White House keys to his successor president elect Joe Biden. – By Joseph Mukala.

Only then will he join the brutal list of former one-term US presidents, who are not in abundance for the world’s oldest democracy.

January 20th may not be the end of Mr Trump’s political ambitions as he could always make a come back and run for a second term.

Should he manage to re-enter White House in 2024, he will join the historical list alongside Cleveland who is the only president to leave the White House and return four years later in 1885 and then again in 1893.

With the United States constitution being very firm and clear about presidential election, it stipulates that “no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice”, but there’s nothing about terms needing to be consecutive.

However, President- Elect Joe Biden should be more worried of a Trump outside the confines of the Oval Office.

First of all, Trump won simply because Americans who voted, wanted Trump out of office.

The Democrats are now faced with an uphill task – politics that will deliver on bread-and-butter economic issues – if they’re to create a stable and responsive government.

Otherwise, Donald Trump will be attacking the democratic government along with millions of supporters who voted him.
