Roma are within reach of a top-four finish in Serie A as the race for Champions League qualification intensifies.
Despite sitting sixth in the standings, the Giallorossi could leap into fourth place if they beat Atalanta on Monday night in Bergamo.
The fight for the final Champions League spots remains wide open. Juventus and Lazio are currently tied on 64 points, with Roma just behind on 63 and a game in hand. Bologna follow closely in sixth with 62 points. With two or three games remaining for each team, every point is now crucial.
Juventus missed a golden opportunity to pull clear after conceding a 96th-minute equalizer in a 1-1 draw against Lazio. Bologna also faltered, losing 3-1 to AC Milan.
If Roma defeat Atalanta, they’ll move up to fourth, two points ahead of both Juventus and Lazio. In that case, a win and a draw from their final two matches would secure Champions League football next season.
A draw in Bergamo would leave Roma level on points with Juve and Lazio. Due to head-to-head records, Roma would leapfrog Lazio but remain behind Juventus on goal difference. Roma beat Lazio 2-0 and drew 0-0 this season, while they drew both games against Juventus (0-0 and 1-1).
A loss would leave Roma needing to earn at least two more points than both Juventus and Lazio from their final fixtures to secure a top-four finish.
The stakes are high, and Monday’s clash with Atalanta could prove decisive. With Claudio Ranieri at the helm, Roma will be hoping to carry momentum into the final stretch and secure their return to Europe’s premier competition.
