WhatsApp Web, Meta’s browser-based messaging service, experienced a significant outage on Monday, preventing users from connecting to servers or sending or receiving messages.
The disruption started early Monday and worsened as the day wore on causing significant inconvenience for both personal and business users around the world.
Downdetector, a platform that monitors online outages, discovered that the problem was primarily with WhatsApp’s web interface across all browsers.
Approximately 57% of users reported issues with WhatsApp Web, while 34% reported overall app outages.
It is unclear whether WhatsApp’s mobile versions, including those on Android and iOS, were impacted during the outage.
