Following a military operation at Lang’ata Barracks and surrounding of the airport’s airspace, low-cost carriers flying out of Nairobi’s Wilson Airport have been forced to postpone their flights.

This suspension has impacted a number of flights, particularly those utilized by tourists visiting various parts of the country.

According to the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) director-general Gilbert Kibe, the shutdown which began at 10 a.m. is likely to end at 5 p.m.

“There are military operations currently going on around Wilson Airport airspace which is why the airport has been temporarily closed,” said Mr Kibe in a response to a Business Daily query Wednesday.

Following the minor interruption, airlines such as Safarilink have already rescheduled their flights.

Safarilink Aviation, Renegade Air, Freedom Airline, and Skyward Express are just a few of the airlines that fly out of the airport.
