A chip off the old block? Winnie Odinga has refused to play her uncle-Oburu Oginga ball and is spoiling for a political duel.
Why? The Raila Odinga favorite daughter wants to inherit her dad’s political bedroom…and her brother inherits baba”s household.
Winnie is loudly calling out uncle Oburu, dubbing a political opportunity out to disenfranchise the family of its political fortune.
Evidence?
She has questioned the haste with which Oburu and the ODM Central committee has signed an MOU with President Ruto. And UDA.
Tellingly, she reckons the uncle lacks political energy to carry the Odinga dream forward. And are politely telling him to play the passive role he did when Baba lived.
Then history repeats self.
Raila Odinga killed off Ford Kenya after the demise of Jaramogi. He resigned as the Kibera Mp, formed NDP and started his solo journey to political stardom.
Winnie is the Mp at EALA. She works well with uncle Uhuru and Uncle Ruto behind the scenes.
Ruto, as President of Kenya has now joined the dynasty class.
Dynasties are unforgiving. Only their political comfort matters.
Raila loved, respect his brother Oburu. But there are no guarantees that the children share their dad’s feeling. Neither are there indications of the same.
