Wiper Democratic Movement has summoned its 25 MCAs to its headquarters today Monday for what is anticipated to be a lecture session after 14 of the 25 MCAs voted to change the leadership of the Assembly just six months after they were forced to remove the former leadership now reinstated.
An action seeing by the party leadership as defiance, but the MCAs have stood their ground that they need frreedom to elect their leaders but not being forced on leadership who are not their preferred choice.
Over 10 Wiper MCAs who attended the home coming of Tseikuru MCA Hon Kimanzi Muange held at Philip Manandu Primary School grounds pledged their loyalty to the Wiper Party as they said it is time for Kitui County Assembly to be freed from external interference adding that cartels have taken over the operations of the Party to their decrement.
Speaker Kevin Kinengo fired from all cylinders accusing unnamed people as cartels who have continuously interfered with the operations of the Assembly and directing on matters leadership and committee composing yet that is the sole duty of the MCAs.
Kinengo says the mission of the cartels is to push leaders out of the Party, a mission which he says they will fail because they will fight for their space from within the Party.
“When I became speaker, there were cartels in Wiper who didn’t want me and vowed to kick me out. The team here stood with me Maluki, Katula, and the rest stood with me and they were removed from office because of that. Wiper MCAs chose to elect their own leaders and not those from the party. MCAs have a right to elect their leaders.” Kinengo said.
“Maluki and Katula, do not fear anything, if they want to kill us, they can go ahead. They keep threatening us. We won’t accept.” Kinengo added.
Mwingi North MP Hon Paul Nzengu advised the Assembly leaders to chat their political path without fear.
Majority Leader Hon Harrison Maluki said his task ahead is to offer leadership in the Assembly and forge unity of purpose for the Majority Party Wiper.
