A witness account has revealed how police officers in the Kianjokoma brothers’ deaths, allegedly beat them up in a dramatic arrest.
The first prosecution witness John Mugendi Njeru told the Court that he was playing Play Station with his friend Chris when Benson Njiru informed him via a phone call that he (Benson) and his brother Emmanuel had closed their butchery and requested that they should meet.
John, Chris, Benson and Emmanuel met outside the PS and proceeded to Mamuru club. John proceeded to say that they ordered for a drink but the two diceased brothers objected to the idea of drinking alcohol to avoid morning hangovers the following day.
Further, John testified that at around 9:45pm on August 1st 2021, Benson’s mother called to confirm their whereabouts. They told her they were on their way home and left the club at 10:01pm the same night.
On their way home they spotted a police land cruiser parked by the road with a police officer on civilian clothes standing outside the car. The witness said the police officer was tall and he was wearing a cream hood.
The two civilians presumed to be police officers chased the four boys and in the process, Emmanuel Mutura (one of the two deceased) fell. His brother Benson also deceased went back to help him up.
It was at this point that the witness hid in a ditch nearby the road and witnessed the preceeding events.
“I heard a bang and a huff sound like someone being beaten” said the witness. He told the Court that he saw the man in hood beat Benson on the shoulder then push him into the land cruiser.
Chris Dan Mureithi, the second witness testified confirming the details given to be valid.
