Life to the former Kiambu County boss Ferdinand Waititu has never been the same three years after his historic impeachment on January 29th, 2020.
The former Kiambu County governor has constantly walked along the corridors of justice in the anti-corruption court at Milimani where he is charged with issuing Sh 588m tender contrary to the law.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate Nzioka at Milimani law courts, Martin Mbugua, the Kiambu county secretary and also a prosecution witness told the court that he was called to EACC on 31st March 2019 to record a statement.
According to the statement, Mr. Mbugua received notification of tender award on 8th march 2018 directing that Testimony Enterprise had won construction tender with the county government of Kiambu.
Mr. Mbugua further stated that he only witnessed the signature of the accounting officer of the department during the tender award exercise. Meaning testimony from this witness cannot be used to successfully pin the accused to the crime.
The defense counsel tried invalidating the witness testimony claiming that he does not qualify to hold an administrative office since he is a specialist in organic chemistry and science.
It is alleged that Testimony Enterprise Company which is owned by Charles Chege and Beth Wangeci gave Mr. Waititu a kickback of sh 25.6m after winning the award.
The case proceeds in court.
