Police in Kikuyu, Kiambu County, have arrested a 29-year-old woman suspected of killing her three daughters, aged 7 years, 3 years, and 6 months, in Thogoto village.
According to preliminary police reports, the woman poisoned her children and unsuccessfully attempted to commit suicide.
The suspect, whose identity has not been revealed, was apprehended by law enforcement officials shortly after the incident.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred late last night, with neighbours becoming suspicious after hearing a loud, strange noise coming from the suspect’s rented house.
Upon investigation, neighbors discovered the woman’s three children lifeless on the floor, with their mother attempting to hang herself. The husband, who works the night shift, was not present at the time of the incident.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, and the suspect is expected to face murder charges once the investigation is completed.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the three siblings have been moved to PCEA Thogoto for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
