A woman accused of physically assaulting another woman was on Friday arraigned before a Thika court in connection with a violent altercation that occurred earlier this week in Kiganjo.
Dorothy Mutinda was formally charged with assault and causing actual bodily harm to Juliet Anyieri in an incident that allegedly took place on June 17, 2025, at Corner 2 area of Kiganjo, Thika.
The prosecution alleges that Dorothy attacked Juliet, inflicting injuries during a confrontation whose cause has yet to be disclosed in court.
Appearing before the magistrate, Dorothy pleaded not guilty to the charges. Her defense lawyer argued for lenient bail terms, saying she is a first-time offender and poses no flight risk.
The court granted the accused a cash bail of Sh30,000 or, alternatively, a bond of Sh150,000 with a surety of the same amount.
The magistrate also directed both parties to refrain from contacting each other during the proceedings to prevent any possible interference with witnesses or escalation of tensions.
The matter has been scheduled for mention on July 25, 2025, when the court is expected to confirm whether both sides are ready to proceed. The full hearing is slated for October 1, 2025.
Police are continuing with investigations as the case unfolds.
