Detectives in Molo subcounty, Nakuru county have launched investigations following the death of a 30-year-old woman whose body was discovered inside a rental house at Mucherwo shopping centre.

Police officers found the body of Salome Chelagat lying naked on a bed. Preliminary observations indicated that she may have died following a suspected unsafe abortion on June 2.

Investigators reportedly found a dead foetus in a green plastic basin under the bed.

Blood stains were also found on the bed.

The scene was documented and processed by investigators before the body of the deceased and the foetus were moved to Molo Sub-County Hospital mortuary for preservation.

Police said a postmortem will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Investigations are ongoing.

This is the second such incident to be reported in a week. Last week, a similar incident happened in Kiambu where a woman was found dead and lying in a pool of blood.

A foetus was also found next to the body amid speculation she had unsafe abortion that led to her death.

The case is still under probe. Such incidents have been on the rise amid calls for safe abortion in the society.
