Women Leaders Gather for Women’s Convocation

This morning, Women leaders from various sectors converged at the Safari Park Hotel for the Women’s Convocation, an event that is a precursor to the 22nd edition of the National Prayer Breakfast set for Wednesday, 28th May 2025.

The event themed: Rise and Rebuild will be led by the Speakers of both Houses and will be graced by H.E President William Ruto, among other invited guests from across the globe.

On a reflection of the theme “Rise and Rebuild,” the Co-Chairs of the Parliamentary Christian Women Caucus, Hon. Naomi Waqo (Deputy Majority Whip) and Sen. Veronica Maina, called on women to take up the role of praying for the Nation for Peace, Love, Unity and Prosperity to reign.

“We know the challenges that we have gone through as a nation. We know the many places that we have to see from the Lord. And what comes true is, yes, we are what we are today, just because of the Lord. And that is why we say as women, what can we do to rebuild the world of our nation? And that is why today our deal is right and reputable. As we gather here today, we should be questioning ourselves on our roles in rebuilding the nation of Kenya.”Waqo stressed.

On her part, Senator Veronica Maina recognized the importance of a sustained commitment to peace, democracy and good governance challenging the women across the country to rise to the occasion.

“I am delighted to have you in this place today. You know, when women pray, things happen. When women pray, something changes. When women pray, things move, and it’s not business as usual, when women pray. When women prayed in Kenya in 2022, we had a peaceful election leading to a peaceful transition. Are we there Women?”

In her keynote address, the Founder, People of Influence Network, Nigeria, Apostle Isi Igenegba, challenged leaders that in order to rebuild the nation, a paradigm shift needed to be taken, sacrifices had to be made and hard decisions taken.

Former Kandara MP and now Cabinet Secretary for Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Hon. Alice Wahome challenged Women leaders to rise above their political affiliations and pull together and work towards improving the livelihoods of the people.
