Wrestling Legend Sid Eudy Passes Away at 63

The wrestling world mourns the loss of Sid Eudy, better known to fans as ‘Sycho Sid,’ who passed away at the age of 63 after a long and courageous battle with cancer, as confirmed by his family.

Eudy’s son, Gunnar, shared the heartbreaking news on social media, expressing the family’s devastation and gratitude for the support they have received during this difficult time.

“Dear friends and family, I am deeply saddened to share that my father, Sid Eudy, has passed away after battling cancer for several years. He was a man of strength, kindness, and love, and his presence will be greatly missed,” he posted on Facebook.

Eudy, who was born in West Memphis, Arkansas, in 1960, made his wrestling debut in 1989 and quickly rose to fame in both the WWF (now WWE) and WCW.

His towering height of 6-foot-9 and formidable presence earned him a memorable legacy in the sport, making him a six-time world champion, including two reigns in both WWF and WCW. He headlined two WrestleManias and had unforgettable bouts against wrestling icons like Shawn Michaels and Hulk Hogan.

In a statement on the official WWE website, it was noted that “if not for a leg injury in 2001, Sid’s successes would likely have stacked up against the best in WWE history.” His career was marked by significant achievements and fanfare, solidifying his status as a wrestling legend.

As news of Eudy’s passing spread, tributes from colleagues and fans began pouring in. Former wrestler Marc Mero expressed his sorrow on X, saying,

“So sad to hear that friend and wrestling superstar Sid Eudy (Sid Vicious & Sid Justice) has passed away at 63 years young from cancer. He was one of the first wrestlers I faced when I was trying out for WCW. What a great guy. My heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to his family, friends, and his millions of fans.”

Fans took to social media to pay their respects as well, with one stating, “RIP to a legend who doesn’t get enough credit in the business,” while another shared,

“My childhood heroes are dying and it hurts.” One well-wisher reflected on Eudy’s fighting spirit, commenting, “He left this world still fighting. I remember his fight with Shawn Michaels. He will always be missed.”
