Social media giant X, formerly Twitter, is back up after a rollercoaster of outages hit users worldwide on Monday, including here in Kenya.
The platform, a daily haunt for millions, went dark in spurts, with the chaos kicking off around 6 PM EAT (9 AM CST), according to DownDetector. Thousands flooded the outage tracker with gripes as X flickered in and out, leaving tweets unposted and feeds frozen.
The Elon Musk-owned site, rebranded in 2023, saw its first major stumble around 2:30 AM PDT (11:30 AM EAT), with bigger crashes piling up by morning in the U.S. and beyond.
For a platform rivaling Facebook and TikTok, these hiccups sting.
With Kenya’s Gen Z and politicos hooked on X for real-time buzz, the outages sparked memes and groans alike.
