Keep ‘Yesu Wa Tongaren’ In Jail — Western MPs Tell Court

A section of MPs from the Western region now demands unconditional release of Bungoma-based self proclaimed Christ popularly known as Yesu wa Tongaren.

Led by Tongaren MP John Chikati, the lawmakers said that the ‘Christ’ should not be released on any bond terms.

“Na tunauliza ya kwamba atolewe without any conditions. Asipatiwe bond yoyote atolewe on free bond ,” Chikati said.

He added that Yesu wa Tongaren presented no harm, saying he was a man focused on praying for people.

“Anaombea Papa wa Roma akuwe president. Yesu wa Tongaren aachiliwe ” the MP added.

Chikati stated that the preacher is a poor man who cannot be linked to money laundering.

The self proclaimed Jesus presented himself to the police station on May 10 for questioning over his religious teachings after he was summoned by Bungoma police commander Francis Kooli.

On May 11, Bungoma Court granted police permission to detain him for four more days for a mental examination and the completion of the investigation.

He is accused of unlawful operation of an unregistered society, radicalization, and money laundering.
