Elon Musk was the target of relentless trolling during a live-streamed gaming session on X, the platform he owns, in a bizarre and uncomfortable display that quickly went viral.
Streaming Path of Exile 2 from his private jet while listening to his ex-partner Grimes’ song So Heavy I Fell Through the Earth, Musk appeared vacant and increasingly agitated as a torrent of mocking messages flooded the chat.
One user claiming to be conservative commentator Ashley St. Claire wrote, “Elon, it’s me… Please pay your child support.” Others piled on. A commenter named “Elon Musk is pathetic” declared, “You ruined the country just like you ruined all your marriages.”
The stream, which lasted over an hour and a half, ended abruptly when Musk said, “Oh, we lost connection,” moments before his character was killed in-game.
The stream was swiftly deleted but reuploaded to Reddit and YouTube, where it continued to circulate widely.
Controversy intensified after Musk was heard using a slur in frustration during the stream, further fueling criticism online.
Ironically, Musk has previously announced plans to launch a video game studio under his AI firm xAI, citing frustration with major corporations dominating the gaming industry—despite overseeing global powerhouses like X, Tesla, and SpaceX.
Despite juggling multiple companies, former President Donald Trump last year appointed Musk to a government efficiency task force, claiming Musk “isn’t very busy.”
That statement, alongside the spectacle of the livestream, has only amplified public scrutiny of Musk’s increasingly erratic public persona.
