YouTube Takes Down Over 100,000 Hate Speech Videos | HYPEBEAST

BY GERALD GEKARA – Google’s Viral video sharing platform YouTube has reported that it has removed over 15000 channels, 100000 youtube videos and about 500 million comments over hate speech content.

In a policy review, YouTube announced that the Hate Speech feature it had managed to develop last year, is already regulating the escalating number of hate-related content

“We spent months carefully developing the policy and working with our teams to create the necessary training and tools required to enforce it,” read the blog post.

“The policy was launched in early June, and as our teams review and remove more content in line with the new policy, our machine detection will improve in tandem.”

According to the update, the auto flag feature has helped YouTube develop a system of quickly removing videos that are not inline with their policy.

Some of the videos removed from their platform include videos related to Terrorism, recruitment and radicalisation, Child abuse among others.
