Yvonne Chaka Chaka launches a women-led radio station

The princes of Africa has established a woman –led station the humanitarian and entrepreneur owns Woman Radio. A station that intends to create opportunities and also give a voice to women and also a safe space where they could talk about anything and also discover raw talent

She came up with the idea in 2016 but then kept it until 2018 when the South Africa’s minster of communication encouraged her to try doing digital radio communications,

“Data is not cheap in South Africa but Stella said my reach is beyond South Africa and I thought that was a great idea we then launched, I got the IOS and android Yvonne told IOL

“Through conversations we can talk about issues related to women and also empower ourselves as women .so this is a platform to give us a wakeup call to say let’s talk about the things that are a taboo.

Once we are comfortable as women I t will also become easier for men. We need to start talking about things that are a taboo things that are not spoken about .people are not aware they are in an abusive relationship and need to be shown.

We have several guests speaking their truth like Cheryl Zondi. We had a lady from Zimbabwe come in who ran away from home when she found out she was HIV +. She has lived with HIV for 20 years and she has got amazing support.

She also added that listeners and guests are already breaking ground.

We are also going to have women giving their views from across all platforms from disability to albinism to business to domestic workers. We have given them a platform to talk about their troubles. We are going to have people from all over the continent .we can come together and find solutions together and we are going to call a spade a spade and say things as they are
