Zambia is mourning the loss of one of its most beloved musicians, Dandy Krazy, who succumbed to injuries from a road collision on New Year’s Eve.

The 47-year-old, whose real name was Wesley Chibambo, was involved in a crash in Kapiri Mposhi, where his car collided with a truck and another vehicle.

Three individuals died at the scene, and Dandy Krazy was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka for emergency surgery.

Despite efforts to save him, the artist passed away in the early hours of Thursday.

President Hakainde Hichilema led tributes, describing Dandy Krazy as an “extraordinary artist” who united people through his music.

“His music and charisma touched lives far and wide, crossing all boundaries and bringing people together,” the President wrote on Facebook.

Dandy Krazy was renowned for his vibrant personality and socially conscious music, which resonated deeply with Zambians.

His hit songs, including Donchi Kubeba, gained widespread acclaim for their catchy rhythms and powerful messages.

The tragic loss has left a void in Zambia’s music industry and among his fans, who continue to celebrate his legacy as a cultural icon and a voice of the people.
