Covid: Children To Get Pfizer Jab

The Food and Drug Administration has cleared a two shot regimen for children between 5 to 11 years.

The jab will be administered three weeks apart.

While the children are at lower risk of getting COVID does not necessarily mean that they are at no risk at all.

“Vaccinating younger children will bring us closer to returning to a sense of normalcy, our evaluation of the data pertaining to the vaccine’s safety and effectiveness should help assure parents and guardians that this vaccine meets our standards.” FDA acting commissioner Janet Woodcock said.

About 1.9 children at that age group have been infected and at least 146 have died.

Parents have shown concern as they are worried about not only long term effects but also the side effects.

Under most scenarios the vaccine benefits outweigh its risks
