Ruto Says He Will Concede Defeat, Move On

William Ruto, the Deputy President has struck a stateman’s mien by stating he will concede defeat if he losses the 2022 poll.

The UDA Candidate says, if voters boot him out, he will accept the verdict and move on.

Two weeks ago, Ruto warned the deep state not to meddle in the 2022 elections and warned of dire consequences should he be denied outright victory.

The 2022 heat is catching up with politicians as the Uhuru Kenyatta succession thickens.

DP Ruto was a key player in the 2007 disputed poll and the subsequent mayhem.

He and President Kenyatta were indicted over the post-election violence. He on allegations that he triggered the violence. Uhuru on the basis of retaliation.

Both were cleared of any wrongdoing.

By then, they were already in power as President and Deputy President.

Ruto’s advisors are anxious about a potential repeat of 2008 chaos and may want to create an alibi ahead of the election.

Both cases were dismissed on technicalities but there are clauses in the acquittal that suggest a bond to keep the peace.

Ruto has become a nightmare to the planners of Uhuru succession.

He will play a critical role in the ensuing political realignment.

He also challenged his opponents to swear that if he beats them in the upcoming polls, they will accept the loss.

Raila Odinga, his competitor, has not said whether he will run in the elections or not.

Gideon Moi (KANU), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Moses Wetangula (Ford-K), and Kalozo Musyoka (Wiper) are among those who have launched their candidacy for next year’s elections.
