12 Youths Arrested While Attempting to Breach State House

A group of 12 individuals was intercepted and arrested on Monday, March 10, while attempting to gain unauthorized access to State House.

The arrests were executed by the elite Recce Squad, which swiftly prevented the suspects from breaching the high-security government facility.

Eyewitnesses reported a tense standoff before security officers managed to subdue the group.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities or motives of those involved, leaving many questions unanswered about the attempted intrusion.

Security agencies, however, reassured the public that there was no imminent threat and that all necessary precautions remain in place to safeguard State House.

“Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident,” a security official stated.

Past State House Breaches

This latest security incident brings to mind previous cases of individuals attempting to enter State House illegally.

In March 2016, William Ngene Njuguna, a 29-year-old handcart pusher, was arrested after jumping two fences to catch a glimpse of the iconic building, which he had only seen in newspapers and on television. He pleaded guilty to trespassing and was remanded. However, a month after his release, he was found dead at Uhuru Park, with injuries suggesting he had been assaulted. The mystery surrounding his death remains unsolved.

Similarly, in October 2015, Walter Juma was arrested inside State House grounds, claiming to be a personal friend of then-President Uhuru Kenyatta. In March 2017, another intruder was shot after trespassing into the premises.

Authorities are expected to issue a formal statement once investigations are complete.
