A 16-year-old student died after being electrocuted in Bondo subcounty, Siaya County.

According to police report, the incident occurred on Tuesday at around 1:00 p.m. in Aduwa village.

The deceased, a Grade 10 student, was reportedly pruning a tree near a high-voltage power line when a branch fell onto the live line.

Police said the contact triggered an electric current that fatally electrocuted the boy on the spot.

The body was later moved to Bondo Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
