166 Test Positive, As Vaccinated Kenyans Edge 1 Million

166 people have tested positive to Covid-19, from a sample size of 3,561 tested in the last 24 hours bringing total confirmed positive cases are now 172,491.

Out of the new cases 156 are Kenyans while 10 are foreigners.

116 are males and 50 females with the youngest being a four-year-old child while the oldest is 97 years old.

The cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,834,247 as positivity rate is now at 4.7%.

Distribution of positive cases by age is as follows; 0-9 years (11), 10-19 years (13), 20-29 years (26), 30-39 (35) 40-49 (37) 50-59 (20) 60 years and above (24).

Cumulative fatalities stand at 3,287 after 23 people have been reported to succumb to the disease, all of them being late deaths reported after conducting Facility Record Audits on diverse dates in the month of April and May.

New deaths by age; 0-9 years (0), 10-19 years (O), 20-29 (0), 30 39 years (1), 40-49 years (1), 50-59 years (5), 60 years and above (16).

Cumulative deaths by age; 0-9 years (54), 10-19 years (22), 20-29 (110), 30-39 years (266), 40-49 years (408), 50-59 years (682), 60 years and above (1,745).

A total of 1,177 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 4,904 patients are under the Home Based Isolation and Care program.

105 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 26 of whom are on ventilatory support and 62 on supplemental oxygen and 17 under observation.

Another 95 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 88 of them in general wards and 7 in High Dependency Units (HDU).

93 patients have recovered from the disease, 90 from the Home Based and Isolation Care Program while three are from various health facilities countrywide.

Total recoveries now stand at 117,595 of whom 85,396 are from Home Based Care and Isolation program, while 32,199 are from various health facilities countrywide.

Vaccination
A total of 975,399 persons have so far been vaccinated against the COVID-19 disease countrywide.

Of these 295,530 are aged 58 years and above, Others 277,803, Health Workers, 166,225, Teachers 153,096, while Security Officers 82,745.

For the second dose a total of 8,181 have so far received their second dose.

Of these 4,607 are Health Workers, Others 1,514, aged 58 years and above 1,053, Teachers 606 while Security Officers 401.
