2022: Raila Key Universal Health Care ‘Manifesto’

Former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga caught many people off guard when he delivered a message to Kenyans early Monday morning when most of them were still sleeping.

In his letter, the ODM party leader highlighted that he addressed the important subject of health financing, as well as the constitutionally guaranteed Universal Health Care, a week ago.

He has addressed the issue of human resources and infrastructure inside the country’s healthcare system since Monday morning.

He began by citing the country’s constitution and what it says about health services, and it’s worth remembering that the national government works with policy while the counties deal with real service delivery.

He has stated that the government should ensure that the welfare of healthcare providers is improved in order for them to deliver diligent service to Kenyans.

The former Prime Minister also suggested that the government establish a National Board of Human Resources, which would include representatives from both levels of government.

He has listed some of the difficulties that the board will be dealing with, including money and training of health care providers.
