61-Year-Old Man Detained For Seven Days For Allegedly Hacking, Killing His Son

A 61-year-old man who is accused of hacking and killing his stepson will be detained at Gesonso police station for seven days.

Sabastian Matundura, 61, appeared in Kisii Law Court for the alleged murder of his stepson.

The accused is accused of murdering his stepson Peter Bogecho on 8/1/2023 at the Igonga location during a domestic dispute.

The accused turned himself in at the Gesonso police station on September 1, 2023.

Matundura appeared before senior resident Magistrate Paul Mutai on various charges.

On his application, Prosecution Council Job Mulati requested that the court grant them 7 days to complete their investigations following the affidavit sworn in by the investigation officer in charge of the case.

He added that the accused should have a mental evaluation and that witnesses should record statements.

As part of his mitigation, the accused agreed to be detained at Gesonso police station.

The case will be mentioned again on 19/1/2023.
