Kenyan volleyball powerhouse KCB soared past Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) in a dominant 3-0 victory at the Ulinzi Sports Complex on Thursday.
Fresh off their African Club Championship experience, the “Bankers” showcased their prowess, sweeping KDF 25-9, 25-16, and 25-18.
“We’re happy with this high-energy start,” said head coach Japheth Munala.
“The win builds confidence as we face stronger opponents. Our goal is to reclaim the local title, and I believe we have the potential to achieve it.”
Munala praised young talent Deborah Jesang, who impressed during the continental competition and continued to shine with her attacks alongside opposite attacker Juliana Namutira.
Notably, veteran Malkia Strikers captain Mercy Moim sat this match out, while Mariana Musa, Lincy Jeruto, Edith Wisa, Esther Mutinda, Namutira, Jesang, and Belinda Barasa took the court for Munala’s team.
“We know the competition intensifies as playoffs approach,” said Captain Edith Wisa. “We can’t afford to relax. Reclaiming the title for our fans is our mission. After the Club Champs, all eyes are on us, and we aim to solidify ourselves as Kenya’s top team and a force to be reckoned with beyond.”
KCB sets their sights on their next challenge, facing arch-rivals Kenya Prisons this Saturday at the Kasarani Indoor Gymnasium.
