Detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) in collaboration with their DCI Kabete counterparts have arrested two suspects believed to be responsible for a string of housebreaking incidents in Kiambu and Nairobi Counties.
Lavender Akinyi Ogillo, 37, and Vincent Odhiambo Otieno, 27, were arrested in connection with housebreaking and theft cases that occurred on April 1st and 19th, 2024.
On April 1st, Kibiku Police Station received a report of a break-in at house number 17 within the opulent Kitisuru Terraces in Nairobi’s affluent Kitisuru suburb.
The thieves gained entry by removing a window pane from the kitchen door and bypassing the padlock.

They stole a 55-inch TCL TV, a 40-inch Samsung TV, wristwatches, an iPad, a computer monitor, a MacBook laptop, wall paintings, carpets, and other valuables.
Second Incident and Homeowner’s Bravery:
On April 19th, another housebreaking incident occurred at Oak Valley Apartments along Mvuli Road in Kileleshwa.
Six perpetrators broke into the house by manipulating the main door lock. Fortunately, the homeowner returned home unexpectedly, interrupting the criminals.
Though the startled thieves fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash, the homeowner, despite sustaining minor injuries, managed to spot their getaway vehicle – a white car with registration number KDG 305C.

Following a relentless manhunt, detectives apprehended Lavender and Vincent, who are no strangers to criminal activity and court appearances. They were taken into custody.
A search of Lavender’s residence in Kiamumbi and Vincent’s hideout in Kasarani led to the recovery of a black Mercedes Benz T733 DTP believed to be used in their criminal operations.
The vehicle has been impounded. The search for the remaining four accomplices is ongoing.
Outstanding Warrants:
Significantly, both arrested suspects were previously part of a six-member gang apprehended for a violent robbery by Kilimani detectives in May 2019.
An arrest warrant was issued for Lavender for skipping court hearings and violating bail terms.
The arrests are a positive development in addressing housebreaking crimes in Nairobi and Kiambu Counties. The remaining four suspects are still at large, and authorities are actively pursuing them.
