The newly appointed Deputy Inspector Generals of the Kenya Police Service have sworn to serve Kenyans and institute structural reforms to save the image of the Police Service.
DIG Eliud Kipkoech Lagat and DIG Administration Police Service Gilbert Masengeli, took their oaths of office in a ceremony presided by Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya Hon. Martha Koome.
National Police Service Commission Chairperson Eliud Kinuthia, CBS, expressed confidence in the appointees, urging them to focus on boosting the morale of police officers.
He emphasized that serving at the apex as Deputy Inspector General of police requires a high commitment to service and implementing decisions that will reform the service to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Inspector General of Police nominee Douglas Kanja congratulated the new Deputy Inspector Generals, calling on them to embrace all stakeholders in executing their mandate.

Chief Justice Hon. Martha Koome commended the collaborative approach between the police and judiciary, calling for more initiatives to ensure efficiency in the administration of justice.
She noted that the appointment comes at a challenging period in the Criminal Justice System, following recent protests against the Finance Bill.
The ceremony was attended by Vice-Chairperson NPSC Dr. Alice Otwala, Commissioners John Ole Moyaki, Dr. Lilian Kiamba, Edwin Cheluget, Commission Secretary/CEO Peter Leley, Senior Government officials, and various dignitaries.
The appointment of Lagat and Masengeli is seen as a significant move to revamp the police service, which has been facing challenges in recent times. As Deputy Inspector Generals, they are expected to work closely with other stakeholders to improve policing in Kenya.
