Acting Inspector General of Police (IG) Gilbert Masengeli has informed the country that police will investigate the cause of the Hillside Endarasha Academy fire, which killed 17 pupils.
While comforting the victims, he stated that investigations have already begun with personnel from the National Police Service (NPS) on the scene.
“The unfortunate tragedy at Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri is already being investigated and we will give a comprehensive update once investigations are completed,” said Masengeli.
The Ag. IG was speaking when he met Regional and County Police Commanders for a consultative meeting at the Coast Regional Police Headquarters in Kizingo, Mombasa.
Deputy Director of DCI John Onyango is leading a team of investigators at the Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri.
Onyango drove to the scene Friday in the company of the head of the homicide unit Martin Nyuguto and other experts from the disaster unit with the aim of unraveling the truth behind the fire.
They want to know who was in the dormitory at the time the fire broke out.
