Former NTV health journalist Nasibo Kabale is currently in rehabilitation, and her mother has confirmed that she is doing well. The news comes after a video of Nasibo living in dire conditions went viral, prompting public concern and support.
In a recent visit by comedian and activist Eric Omondi, Kabale’s mother shared that her daughter checked into rehab well before the troubling video surfaced. “She’s in rehab and she’s already checked in… but ako sawa,” she reassured concerned Kenyans.
Omondi, who had been one of the first to offer assistance, shared updates about Nasibo’s condition on his Instagram. In a heartfelt post, he mentioned, “Today, I visited Nasibo’s home in Jamhuri. She was flown to a rehab this morning by her brother. The mother says she’ll be okay and has requested for our prayers.”
The comedian emphasized that Nasibo’s mother had clarified the situation and dispelled rumors about her daughter being homeless. “Let’s keep praying for the family. Be blessed for your concern,” he added.
In the viral video that initially drew attention to her plight, Nasibo revealed that she had been struggling with depression since 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic. She lamented the lack of understanding surrounding mental health issues. “People think you’re just feeling sorry for yourself,” she noted, highlighting the isolation that often accompanies such struggles.
Despite her challenges, Nasibo expressed a desire to return to her creative roots, aiming to pivot from traditional media to podcasting and vlogging. “I used to be a writer… I just need a good phone and microphone,” she hopes to continue sharing her voice with the world.
The community’s support for her recovery underscores the importance of compassion and awareness around mental health issues.
