The U.S. Embassy in Kenya and the American Chamber of Commerce Kenya (AmCham) have announced the inaugural U.S.-Kenya Creative Economy Forum 2025, to be held on June 5 in Nairobi.
The landmark event aims to boost investment and strengthen partnerships in Kenya’s creative economy, bringing together U.S. and Kenyan stakeholders in film, music, sports, and other cultural industries.
Under the theme “Powering the Future of the Creative Economy,” the forum will spotlight Kenya’s rising global profile in the creative sector, while linking local talent with global markets and investors.
“My time in Kenya has shown me this country has an amazing and energetic pool of creative young people,” said Marc Dillard, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy. “The potential for U.S.-Kenya partnership in the creative economy is boundless.”
Though a one-day event, the Forum is just the beginning. AmCham plans to form a dedicated taskforce to drive ongoing collaboration through trade missions, industry forums, and joint projects with U.S. companies.
“Kenya’s creative economy has tremendous untapped potential,” said AmCham Kenya CEO Maxwell Okello. “This platform will help unlock that potential and connect Kenyan creatives to U.S. business opportunities.”
The U.S. creative economy is valued at over $1 trillion annually, while Kenya’s sector continues to grow rapidly, contributing a rising share of GDP.
With Nairobi’s growing reputation as Africa’s innovation and cultural hub, the forum is expected to cement new cross-border partnerships that drive economic growth and elevate African creativity on the world stage.
