President William Ruto has begun a multi-day development tour of Homa Bay County ahead of the national Madaraka Day celebrations set to take place on Sunday at the Raila Odinga Stadium.
The President kicked off his visit on Thursday in Ndhiwa Constituency, where he launched the construction of the Gor Mahia Ring Road in Magina and officially opened the Ndhiwa Technical Training Institute (TTI) in Kanyamwa Kologi Ward. The initiatives are part of the government’s broader agenda to boost infrastructure and skills development in the region.
On Friday, President Ruto is scheduled to close the Blue Economy Conference at Tom Mboya University. He will then proceed to inspect and commission additional development projects across various parts of the county.
Ndhiwa Member of Parliament Martin Owino has called on residents to turn out in large numbers to welcome the President, emphasizing the importance of unity and development-focused engagement during the tour.
Support for the visit has also come from the local clergy. Bishop Adede Ongola of Agano Ark Covenant Church lauded President Ruto’s efforts, noting that ongoing projects in Homa Bay are beginning to positively impact the livelihoods of the people.
The President’s visit is seen as both a symbolic and practical gesture ahead of the 61st Madaraka Day, as the government highlights key development milestones and continues its outreach to all corners of the country.
